Help!! I’m being stalked by an elf. That’s right. You heard me. His name is Bob. He has a new place every day and we have to find him. It is so fun. He sometimes leaves us presents. We all got a Star wars countdown to Christmas thing. Each day we open the panel with today’s date and we get a tiny Lego ship or figure. My friend who carpools with me likes to search for the elf every morning too. It so fun having an Elf on the Shelf. If you want one ask your parents and they will call Santa to get you one. Hope you get one!

My Mother Tooted and Flew To the Moon
Posted in school on March 8, 2011 by calebwintersOnce there was a boy who lived in a cottage. It was small, but at least it was something. He lived with his mom, dad and two brothers. One day the family had a big veggie party because the boy’s mother was a vegetarian. They had a lot of vegetables and I mean a lot.
The mother ate so much Cauliflower and beans that she flew to the moon. The family started to yell for her but they knew it was no use. On the mothers way she hit a spoon for some really odd reason. When she landed on the moon she was a little scarred. Well, why wouldn’t she! She’s on the stinking moon for crying out loud.
She started to run in circles screaming. She wasn’t paying attention on where she was running and ran into a crater. When she sat up and looked around she saw that the crater was a big room. So she thought, “I could use this until I can find a way back home.” Right away she started to work. She made all the things she needed out of the moon. Well, actually that’s all you’ve got really. She made a bed, sweater, pillow and a blanket. Oh, and don’t forget the toilet.
While she was looking for food she was lucky enough to come across moon pies and they were chocolate her favorite. She found some cauliflower as well hidden behind a huge rock. She thought to herself, “These could come in handy.” That night she had a feast. When she went out again in search of food she saw a strange little thing. When she went up to it the thing made a strange noise and it went “WHOMP!” The mother seemed friendly to the thing so it took her to its village.
The mother learned that the “Things” were actually called the Womps. They all had a feast that night. The mother went back to her little “House” for a goodnights sleep. But, while she was sleeping she was kidnapped by the Womps. They took her to an enormous temple where they gave her jewels and clothes. “They must think I’m a god or something” she thought. So, where do you think they are taking her? You probably guessed it, it’s a volcano.
The Womps want to sacrifice her to the volcano god. The mother thought she better do something quick or be turned into fried chicken. Right when the Womps weren’t looking she dashed away. It didn’t take long for the Womps to realize she had escaped. She dashed back to her “House” and tried to think of something she could use to escape the moon. Then she remembered all the cauliflower. She ate it all in the fastest time in the world. She then ran onto the surface of the moon and right before the Womps could get her she tooted back to Earth. But, right before she lifted off the surface she yelled “See ya Womps.”
On her way back to Earth she saw the spoon she had hit on her way to the moon. When she got back she told her whole family about here adventure. When she was done she said “Maybe one day you can go to the moon as well.”
Roxi Love poem
Posted in school on March 1, 2011 by calebwintersI have a dog and her name is Roxy love
She thinks she’s so foxy
And she is always so sneaky
She loves to steal our socks
She loves to steal our food
She especially loves to steal our shoes
She steals anything she can get
She beleives she can fly right up to the sky
She thinks she’s a fish
That’s her big wish
She believes she’s the alpha and the omega
She barks at anything that twitches a little
She’s in love with my cats
So they wrestle a lot
She does anything she wants
Like barking all night
She licks any new people
So be sure to cover your mouth
So look up in the sky and watch out
Because you might just see her flying by in the sky
Agriculture Counts
Posted in school on March 1, 2011 by calebwintersThe importance of agriculture in Georgia to me, my community, my state, my country and the world, is that the plants and livestock help us meet our everyday needs. Plants give us food and medicine. They also feed the livestock. Livestock give us food, clothes, and entertainment. Without the food the plants and livestock give us, we would all starve. Without new clothes, people would have to wear the same clothes again and again. The clothes would be ruined. Without medicine people can and will get sick. The people in the world could die.
The livestock give us entertainment. Little kids can watch the pigs roll in the mud. They can watch the horses gallop around. The kids could even be allowed to ride some of the horses. The kids could watch the goats head butt with each other and watch the chickens cluck around.
The plants in our world give the livestock food. With that food the livestock can produce milk and eggs. But, if the livestock don’t eat the will not produce milk and eggs. Without milk and eggs we cannot make cheese and butter. So, without food the livestock will die. Next, there would not be any more clothes from the cows and horses. So, no more animal skins can be used for clothes. Without plants in our world we could not breathe. Plants give us oxygen. So every time we cut down trees we are getting rid of oxygen. Without agriculture the whole world could go into chaos. That is what agriculture means to me.
Human Trafficking
Posted in school with tags adults, Human Trafficking, kidnapping, kids, slavery on February 2, 2011 by calebwintersIf I were the leader of the free world, the first issue I would address would be human trafficking. Human trafficking is the way of selling humans into sexual slavery. It is one of the world’s three most profitable forms of organized crimes. The first is selling drugs. The second one is selling military weapons. The third is human trafficking. The people who do this mainly go after poor, uneducated, minority teenagers. Rarely is any person kidnapped in human trafficking found.
Human trafficking is defined as recruiting, harboring, transporting, kidnapping or obtaining a person for forced labor or services. It involves using force, fraud or manipulation and basically makes that person a slave. There is no easy solution or way to solve this horrible crime against people. We thought that we abolished slavery, but we haven’t. Slavery has been hiding in the shadows. It has come back to haunt us now, because we are at our weakest hour. We are in war, leaving war, and in an economic depression. Human trafficking is a brutal and thriving problem that generates an estimated $32 billion dollars annually according to the United Nations. Some reports say those who deal in human trafficking can make up to $200,000 for selling one young girl.
There are an estimated 12.3 million adults and children who are in some type of forced labor or forced into the sex trade, according to the U. S. State Department’s 2010 report, trafficking in Persons. The report said there were less than 5,000 successful court cases against human traffickers. That is not that many. The department also said there are 15,000 to 18,000 victims each year in the United States alone.
Human trafficking can happen in your own family. Some families sell their young girls to get money. Others are drugged and forced to fight in the war. The victims are helpless because of poverty and exploited by traffickers. Men are bounded/ chained and are forced to work in mines. Women are enslaved in quarries and households. Women and girls are trapped in the sex trade. Boys are forced to fish in dangerous waters for pearls, exotic fish and who knows what else. People are forced to do all those things when no one in their right mind would do them for pay.
It is hard to believe that the United States, our very own country, teenagers are being bought, sold, and smuggled like modern day slaves. As the leader of the free world I would love to go to war with those who traffic humans. However, they are not just some ordinary group or country. This is like a disease. It is all over the world. So if you capture some human traffickers, more will just take their place. There would be no way to start a war with them because we could never find all of them. What I will do though is to try and rescue the victims and also go after the predators themselves. Our goal is to try and save as many victims as we can, while at the same time arresting as many predators as we can.
To help victims, we would set up both educational and advertising campaigns to teach local residents about the dangers and horrors of human trafficking. One of our greatest tools is the public, and we can get them to help by recognizing the signs and notifying the police. We also would promote safe places, like buildings, where victims can run to if they can escape or fear they are in danger.
To go after the criminals, we would create task forces with specially trained officers who can work with the officers in other countries. It is very important that all countries are a part of this campaign. I also would pass laws that would allow the death penalty or keeping people in prison for life who are convicted of human trafficking. I will make sure that special human trafficking officers and the courts have enough money to go after as many criminals as we can find. That is what I will do if I were the leader of the free world.
Cave Trip
Posted in Boy Scouts with tags cave, fun, hard, trip on January 25, 2011 by calebwintersLast weekend I went on a cave trip. They are a lot of fun but can be very dangerous. I injured my leg while following our guides. When we slept we had to find a place to sleep and it was very bumpy and hard. When the guides said this is where we would be sleeping everyone went ” What!” The toilets were really bad and stunk a lot. They were very strict about the bathroom because if you went to the bathroom on the cave itself it would hurt the cave. If you even spit in the cave it could hurt it. Also the most flattest part was next to the bathroom so it stunk a lot. I was really glad I didn’t move over there. my dad was sleep in a tight space. If he moved to much to the right he would hit himself. If he moved to much to the left he would hit himself. I was sleeping on a tiny hill so I fell off of my sleeping pad. The best part of the trip was the breakfast, tour, and gift shop. you should really try sleeping in a cave.
Grandparents Passing
Posted in Grandparents, Uncategorized with tags alzhimer's, Grandparents, passed away on January 17, 2011 by calebwintersI have not written a blog in a long time, but a lot has happen. My grandparents both had Alzheimer’s.
The reason I say had is because my grandparents have passed away. My grandmother died on June 13, 2009. My grandfather died on November 9, 2010. My mom’s mom ha shared two of her many wise words with my mother. She then shared those with me. One was ” If you don’t hold my hand now there may not be a second chance.” The second one was ” You can visit my grave if you need to but I will not be there I will be with the Lord.” I will really miss going to my grandfather’s veterinary clinic with him. I am glad I got to know them. I will miss them.
Call Of Duty Black OPs/Cheats
Posted in Video and Video Game Reviews with tags black ops, call of duty, cheats, video game on January 17, 2011 by calebwintersThe new Call of Duty game is a fun shooting game. It is rated M for mature 17+. It has intense violence, blood and gore, and strong language. I think it should not be played by kids 5-9 years old. There are some scenes that are very gross.
The language can be very bad at times. So do what I do. If I love a game a lot but there is a lot of cursing, I just turn off the volume.
One neat cheat I learned was when you are at the screen you choose what you want to do - the screen where you choose if you want to do multiplayer, campaign, and zombies. You simultaneously mash the L2 and R2 buttons. When you get up you can walk over to your computer and press the square button to turn it on. Then, you can put in DOA for Dead OPs Arcade. Next, you can put in ZORK but I do not know what it stands for.
When you look at the screen it looks like it is a book or something. Last, you can put in mail to activate your email. Type in HELP and you will get it. It will tell you what to type in to get to a certain place on the computer. I highly recommend this game for older kids even though I am only twelve.
